Installation

PhishNet is a Chrome extension that installs in about 30 seconds. It uses your existing Google account — no separate PhishNet account required.

Step 1 — Install from the Chrome Web Store

1. Open Chrome and visit the PhishNet listing on the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension in the confirmation dialog.
3. The PhishNet shield icon appears in your browser toolbar.

Step 2 — Sign in with Google

Click the PhishNet icon and choose Sign in with Google. PhishNet requests the following Gmail permissions:

Permission	Why it's needed
Read your email messages	To analyse the content of emails you open and detect threats
Manage your email settings	To move high-risk emails to quarantine when you or your admin enables auto-quarantine

PhishNet only reads emails you actively open — it does not scan your archive or run in the background without you.

Step 3 — Open any email

Navigate to Gmail and open any email. PhishNet scans it automatically and displays the result in a panel below the email header within a few seconds.

That's it. No configuration required to start protecting your inbox.
